(*Alfred E. Neuman quote*) - "For most people, being "reflective" means spending hours in front of a mirror."..... If you ask me - I'd say (just by this quote, alone) that Alfred E. Neuman (who was looked upon as being just an idiot kid) was definitely much brighter than his appearance led one to believe.

I don't know about you - But as a typical, suburbanized kid of 12 - I certainly enjoyed reading Mad magazine regularly and, yes, I had my own subscription to it for 2 years.

There were definitely many aspects of Mad magazine that I particularly liked, such as - "The Lighter Side" - "A Mad Look At" - "The Shadow Knows" - "Horrifying Cliches" - and, of course - "Spy Vs. Spy".

Founded in 1952 by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher William Gaines - Mad was (at one time) a widely imitated and very influential magazine. It offered its readers biting satire on all aspects of life and popular culture, such as politics, entertainment, and public figures.

This book covers Mad magazine in its first 60 years.... (*Watch brief documentary video*)

Very interesting overview of the history of MAD magazine. It was fun seeing some of the old magazine covers, remembering the recurring gags and cartoons, and the different types of spoofs they would have.
