The plot seems rather goofy and throws a lot at the reader. Yet this installment of the Hawkeye series aptly relies on heroine Kate Bishop's charisma and skill, being totally worth taking a look at. The snappy dialogue and bursts of frenetic action show her in a wonderful light that's a joy to read.

Kate Bishop is awesome. Strong, smart, sassy - the world needs more female superheroes like her!

This is a breath of fresh air - like listening to good indy music to get a break from top 40s radio.

And there's an irony here: Kate didn't start out as a "street-level" character, not in the pages of the first _Young Avengers_ series. That writers such as Matt Fraction and, more recently, Ontario's own Jeff Lemire have found her an added niche in that section of super-heroics is an added joy.

This volume of stories follows the other Hawkeye as she spends time out west, and tangles with some unexpected adversaries. The character inconsistencies about Madame Masque are a bit bothersome for me; one could have written a new character into the role instead. Still, Fraction has a good handle on a street level character like Kate Bishop.
