"Gwen is kidnapped to an island inhabited by fairies, a roguish ship captain, and bloodthirsty beasts--and she must save their Queen before it's too late"--
Gwendolyn Allister's mother believes they are being hunted by brutal monsters, and those delusions have brought them to London. Gwen's friend, Olivia, is with her for the summer, but shortly after their arrival the girls are kidnapped by shadowy creatures and dragged to a world of flesh-eating sea hags and dangerous Fey. And Gwen begins to realize that maybe her mother isn't so crazy after all.... In this world called Neverland, good and evil lose their meaning. As Gwen struggles to find a way home, she must choose between trusting the charming fairy-tale hero who says all the right things and the captivating pirate who promises to keep her safe.

Gwendolyn has spent her life running. Her mom is convinced that there are monsters after them, so they run. But Gwen had enough of it. After one rebellious move, her and her best friend, Olivia, is getting whisked off to an unknown land by… black creatures? Could the monsters her mom believed in be real? Before she knew it, she arrived at Neverland. Except this isn’t the same fairytale we all grew up on. It was dark and real. When she is forced to choose between a rogue pirate and the story’s sketchy hero, can she make the right decision? The plot thickens and she learns a secret to her past, her future and herself. It’s not just about her survival now, but all of Neverlands. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy fairy tale rewrites since this author did an incredible job at creatively rewriting this story. I would’ve liked a better ending because I craved a more solid conclusion. Questions were left unanswered and this is not a part of a series, so it was a little bit disappointing. Nevertheless, this novel brought me on a magical adventure that I won’t soon forget. Rating: 4/5

Could not "Unhook" myself from the book.
A great read. I like this author's works.

Rugged, spirited pirate. Mysterious Pan. Faeries... this was definitely a different and interesting take on Peter Pan, that's for sure. It was slightly predictable at times, but overall an entertaining and enjoyable read.

I am always interested in reading new takes on known works. Unfortunately, I have become rather jaded to the "young teen discovers who they really are (royalty with super powers) and that only they can save the world" stories. There was a lot of stuff to keep straight about who was good, who was being manipulated, who should I love, who had what powers. The result was muddy. The best part of the book was the use of the short story at the start of each chapter and how that ultimately tied into the rest of the book.

The author was right this by far is not the neverland we all know from others. This book dives more into Fey supernatural abilities then focusing on the story of Peter Pan & Hook. Even though it is completely different it's still a really good read to keep things interesting.
