My elder son earned his Masters in the fields of Childhood Development & Special Education. In addition, he did a great deal of study and active research with children in three devastating problems impacting children; those being Autism, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and the logistical nightmare of bringing the best possible quality of life for the children who are impacted by these tragic developmental setbacks. This was particularly a constant hardship in the Arctic areas of Alaska where access to most villages was via small aircraft and thus always subject to weather concerns. But, " The Horse Boy," written by Rupert Isaacson astutely displays the wonders that we humans seem needful of discovering again and again is the wondrous interaction with animals and people with illnesses, a variety of cancers and even emotional
problems and we are almost always
overjoyed but shocked at what these
wonderful animals are able to do in helping mankind fight against the very
worst maladies. It is the authors' son,
Rowan Isaacson who suffers from
Autism and he was two years of age when the special bond of the family
horse, Betsy and Rowan, displayed an
