This book seemed more like a stitching together of several Camino pilgrimages made by the author over a number of years. This patchwork approach, while overall painting a reasonably good picture of his impressions and experiences, made it a bit hard to follow at times as he jumps back and forth in time and place. The other thing that marred this memoir (which I did mostly like), was what came across as a very judgmental attitude towards certain other authors who have also written about the Camino.

Robert Ward returns for his fifth trip along the Camino de Santiago. He explores the sacred and the profane side of this famous pilgrimage road in Northern Spain. He has fallen completely in love with this journey, "where there's good fellowship, moments snatched sipping a cafe con leche, or quaffing a cerveza with unexpected new companions". Each day brings new lessons, new challenges and above all the ultimate example of the old saying "the joy is in the journey".
