I was aghast that she is way older than she looks (and even older than I) but shocked that someone who was a professional editor and published with a major house could have at least five jarring spelling and/or grammatical errors in the same novel (e.g., s/b grisly not grizzly) - disconcerting that an educated Boomer could be so lacking. The novel is very linear and she displays no talent to juggle two balls at once so she's never going to be say a Michael Connelly or a Lee Child. The level of writing talent would be acceptable for a YA audience but falls short for adults. Nonetheless, she does contemporary well and her characters are not deadwood - it's written with a woman's sensibility but without wallowing in it. So overall a fairly good effort except for the shortcomings.
