I confess. After reading The Wolf Pack and after attending Box's presentation at Douglas County Libraries where he indicated, in response to an audience question, that it was natural and a part of life that characters would be killed off now and then, I was nervous to read this latest story. I was afraid that a character I've grown fond of might get bumped off! No worries. All is well. There are some tense moments, of course, and someone does get shot, of course, but Long Range is another great story in the C. J. Box tradition. He draws a compelling characterization of life and mores in rural Wyoming.
