Old school spy novel's plot that aged very well unlike Ian Fleming.
Protagonist a middle aged everyman got into how-to-do by accident.
Antagonist an older ,but paranoid freelance assassin recruited by Soviet union that killed 2000+ victims in-between world wars, Spanish Civil war, Second world War & cold war. Lifetime goal to to make United States look bad & defang NATO.
Cast of character interesting including antagonist's selfish ex-wife who hang out with the wrong crowds.
Tension & suspense so real.
Crackling book highly recommended for something similar to Tom Clancy.
Should read Eric Ambler & Graham Greene for comparison.
